The world of people is changing very quickly, and children’s games and hobbies are changing with it. Fresh games were replaced by computer games. But over such a traditional folk fun, common in so many countries of the world, like launching a paper snake – time is powerless.
Make a paper snake with your child with your own hands, start it and enjoy watching his flight in the sky – which can be more useful and pleasant?
The manufacture of an air snake at home is easy.
This will be needed such materials as a sheet of paper, several thin rails, threads and braids.
A sheet of paper can be of different shapes and sizes, depending on your desire.
For example, take a rectangular paper (we make a snake of this form), 200×300 mm in size. On the back, that is, from the side that will look into the sky, we glue thin slats. The old plywood, which began to exfoliate,. Gently remove one of its layer and cut out the shells of the desired length and width from it. Two slats glue crosswise diagonally, and two, as if fastening the diagonal, and one along the upper (front) edge of the sheet. We glue the slats so that they protrude for a sheet for 10-12 mm. The thickness of such rails should be up to 2 mm, and the width-about 5-8 mm.
After that, with the front (looking at the ground) the sides of the sheet, you need to make a bridle that consists of three threads of the same length. They are tied in the corners of the sheet, for the crossroads of the planks, and in the center of the sheet. A sheet, in the center, pierce on both sides of the intersection of the diagonal rails. The threads are threaded from the bottom of the sheet, on the one hand, the intersection of the rails is removed to the upper part of the sheet, and by circling the intersection of the rails, they are taken to the lower part of the sheet. All three threads are connected in the knot so that their length is equal to the distance from the angle to its center. Changing the length of the thread tied to the center, you can set the nature of the snake flight. If this thread is made shorter than the rest, then the paper snakes will lift its front part, and then its flight will be cooler, and if the thread is made a little longer, then the snakes will fly horizontally.
On the back of the sheet, between the upper corners, we pull the thread, slightly bending the surface of the paper snake. Such a bend will allow a paper snake to fly more steadily.
Now you need an air snake to make sounds when flying – for this you need to make a rattle. It is made very simple – a strip of paper is 4-5 mm wide, and is collected by an accordion. The rattle is attached ahead in front of a tightening thread.
Now, a paper snake needs a tail that can be made from braid. To do this, we make shallow cuts at the ends of the rails, on which we tie the braid with threads, hoping that the tail of such a snake should be about two meters.
If there are no braids at hand, then you can apply other material: paper twine, corneal wash or just stripes of chopped rags.
If the tail in flight will swing from the side to the side, then it must be lengthened or weighted. The weighting is carried out by attaching to the end of the tail of some small rag, crumpled paper, or even a bunch of grass.
Now, to the knot of the bridle, it remains to tie the “driver” – the nylon thread, the tenth -sized thread is suitable. The length of the “vendor” is determined by the height of the flight of a paper snake.
That’s all, now you can run!
For a flight, a paper snake needs an open space, without pillars with power lines, trees, home. They launch the snake together – one person holds it against the wind, and the other, moving away about fifteen, scatters, pulling the thread so that the paper snake takes off. In the process of setting a height with a snake, the thread must be gradually released. With good wind, the paper snakes rises to the height equal to the entire length of the thread.
